They say that clothes make the Man or the Woman. I believe that clothes are a tool of expressing a personality and I find a lot of inspiration in how people dress and the things they surround themselves with. These elements play an important role in the construction of the portraits. In the case of my portrait of Beth Levis her incredible style was going to be the focal point. And her beautiful face of course. Because she is photographed so much it was hard to choose which dress to put on her. In the end I took the idea for the dress from a photo and made up a lot of the intricate designs on it myself. From her photos I could tell that she loves the outdoors and I found that beautiful sky in one of the photos. The Bird is there to remind us that nature is where everything begins and we need to stay grounded. I enjoyed working in a few of Beth’s fashion moments. Personally I like the mix of glamour and the natural beauty of the landscape. I am pleased to say that Beth loves the portrait. That is always my ultimate goal.
